This role is available at either the Senior Construction Liability Underwriter (Level III) or AVP, Construction Liability Underwriter (Level IV). The hiring manager will assess the appropriate level based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience.

As a Senior Construction Liability Underwriter, you will leverage your marketing and analytical expertise. Your responsibilities will include evaluating and underwriting both new and renewal business, following general guidelines, while adhering to The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework. This role demands a market-facing approach, thus we are looking for a candidate with a robust sales execution mindset and familiarity with construction liability policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and enforce underwriting protocols, rating manual standards, and applicable insurance regulations.
  • Build and sustain collaborative relationships with Line of Business representatives and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Foster and maintain connections with distributors (agents & brokers) to support business retention and growth, while addressing their insurance needs.
  • Contribute to the organization's sales culture by acting as a resource for agents, brokers, and clients.
  • Actively pursue renewal and new business opportunities.
  • Conduct thorough opportunity assessments with key distributors to pinpoint growth potential.
  • Evaluate accounts to align with the organization's appetite while balancing sound business opportunities.
  • Engage in broker/customer and on-site visits with a clear and strategic purpose.

Basic Qualifications for Senior Level III:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with 5+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with 10+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 8+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support
    AND
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience managing time-sensitive quotes for new and renewal business
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting

Basic Qualifications for AVP Level IV:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with 7+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with 14+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 5+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 12+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support
    AND
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Technical expertise in commercial Construction Liability Underwriting
  • Established relationships with brokers in the relevant market
  • Sales-oriented mindset
  • Creative problem-solving abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
