Job Overview

Position Objective:

The role is focused on overseeing fleet resources across all sectors within the Transportation department. This position entails managing both external and internal partnerships as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage the relationships between the Transportation department and both internal teams and external leasing companies or vendors.
  • Collaborate closely with Regional Transportation Managers and designated site leaders to ensure that maintenance providers comply with and deliver services as specified in vendor contracts.
  • Facilitate and engage in quarterly performance evaluations with service providers to identify areas for enhancement and opportunities for ongoing process improvements.
  • Effectively negotiate optimal fuel pricing for the department, including securing discounts with commercial truck stops nationwide.
  • Assess, analyze, and offer recommendations regarding fleet size and equipment requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of requests for the disposal of outdated equipment or the acquisition of new assets.
  • Oversee the timely sale of company-owned equipment.
  • Address discrepancies in fleet invoices related to maintenance concerns.
  • Monitor expiration dates for registrations and inspections.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven experience in negotiating the procurement and/or leasing of Class A tractors and refrigerated trailers.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations concerning equipment repairs, out-of-service violations, and equipment documentation.
  • Understanding of Comdata management for fuel and lumper receipts.
  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years in a comparable position, overseeing fleet operations for both owned and leased assets.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • Desirable knowledge of refrigerated equipment utilized in the handling of perishable products.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance requirements for commercial equipment.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Note: This position does not qualify for relocation expenses.
