Urology Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Urology team at Boston Children's Hospital as a Nurse Practitioner. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in both inpatient and ambulatory settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive history and physical exams, and interpret findings.
- Diagnose and manage common clinical problems of the identified patient population.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate treatment plans in an interdisciplinary manner.
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies and therapeutic interventions as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with the healthcare team, patients, and families.
- Participate in discharge planning and daily patient care rounds.
- Engage in health teaching and counseling with patients and families.
- Maintain clinical competency and ongoing professional development through continuing education and self-evaluation.
Ambulatory Responsibilities:
- Support the Urologist-of-the-Week through triaging and managing clinical inquiries via Epic in-basket.
- Complete comprehensive chart reviews and summaries for patients undergoing evaluation for a second opinion.
- Cover urgent clinic appointments and General Urology clinic as needed.
- Perform in-person post-operative visits and write orders and prescriptions.
- Review and sign prior authorizations, letters of medical necessity, and durable medical equipment scripts.
- Complete peer-to-peer reviews and engage in health teaching and counseling.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team and communicate clearly and concisely with the healthcare team, patients, and families.
- Maintain clinical competency and ongoing professional development through continuing education and self-evaluations.
Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Nursing.
- Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
- License to practice as an NP in Massachusetts.
- 1-3 years of PNP experience preferred.
- Previous ICU or inpatient surgical experience preferred.
