Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced HR Representative to join our team at MyMichigan Health. As an HR Representative, you will serve as a point of contact for all MyMichigan Health System leaders and employees, providing expert guidance and support on payroll, benefits, compensation, pension, employee relations, education, unemployment, leave of absence, and human resource policy and procedure related questions and issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements and ensure that employee records are up-to-date by processing employee transactions in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure that pre-employment checks and processes are completed in accordance with the Employment Screening Policy, Federal and State Law.
  • Conduct onboarding gap analysis to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure legal/policy compliance.
  • Maintain listing and knowledge of approved positions along with assigned salary grade levels.
  • Facilitate and conduct all onboarding activities ensuring their proper and timely completion.
  • Provide telephone or email support to resolve questions and issues related to payroll, benefits, compensation, pension, employee relations, education, unemployment, leave of absence, and human resource policy and procedure.
  • Use technology to document nature and resolution of contacts.
  • Resolve onboarding issues or concerns with the highest level of customer service.
  • Communicate issues/concerns to the Recruiter and/or Recruitment Manager for resolution if necessary.
  • Research and recommend improvements to enhance the new hire experience and improve new hire retention.
Requirements
  • A minimum of three years of professional level experience in Human Resources or customer service related role.
  • Extensive knowledge of computer software with demonstrated proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications especially Excel and Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, federal and state respective employment laws.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and available to interact with employees at all levels.
  • Be able to manage multiple conflicting priorities and multiple business units in multiple locations.
  • Should be self-directed and motivated.
  • Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations.
  • Analytical skills necessary to conduct basic research, analyze and interpret data, and identify and solve problems by proposing course of action.
  • One (1) year working in a health care setting is preferred.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  • Attention to detail in composing, typing, proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Good to excellent spelling, grammar, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent telephone and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong emphasis on customer service excellence.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding.
  • Knowledge of office administration procedures.
  • Ability to operate most standard office equipment.
