Data Engineering Specialist

B&A is a leading provider of data engineering solutions to federal government clients. We are seeking an experienced Data Engineering Specialist to join our team in support of an important mission. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a great team while supporting the United States Customs and Border Protection. The successful candidate will be flexible and forward-leaning, able to learn new tools and skills, and able to learn new data domains as the data warehouse grows.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience developing and maintaining complex SQL for ETL and reporting, strong experience with large complex data systems, experience performing database administration tasks (manage scheduled jobs, cluster configurations), and experience performing software administration tasks (deploy applications, manage scheduled tasks). They will also have excellent diplomacy and communication skills with both clients and technical staff. A proficiency in Python and Scala is highly desirable. Experience using Spark and Hive is also an asset. The position requires an active DHS or CBP Public Trust clearance.
