Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at NOVA Patient Care. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare staff in delivering high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare examination rooms for patients by ensuring they are well-stocked and at a comfortable temperature, and that all equipment is sterilized.
  • Assist healthcare staff during examinations by handing the correct supplies and medical instruments to the physician, positioning the patient, and assisting with other tasks as needed.
  • Document patient vital signs, including respiration rate, blood pressure, and pulse, and record the information in their chart.
  • Communicate with patients about their visit and record their personal information and medical history to share with the healthcare staff.
  • Learn clinic computer hardware and software and use them according to company policies.
  • Ensure patient needs are met at all times and answer any questions they may have.
  • Organize medical records, laboratory results, and progress notes to ensure the healthcare provider has all necessary information during patient encounters.
  • Assist with front desk duties as needed.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Completed an accredited medical assisting program and a supervised externship in a healthcare setting.
  • Passed the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam to obtain certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or other certifying agency.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • 1 year of prior experience as a medical assistant in a healthcare setting.
  • Previous experience in a medical or primary care group practice is preferred.
  • Customer service-oriented and passionate about helping patients.
  • Possesses clinical skills.
  • Electronic Medical Records and/or Electronic Health Records experience preferred.
  • Proficient in medical terminology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
