The Arizona Media Association + Arizona Local News Foundation seeks a skilled and innovative Head of Marketing and Communications to spearhead all external communication initiatives.

This pivotal role is essential for boosting our visibility, engagement, and outreach to members and stakeholders across various platforms, including email, social media, websites, and in-person interactions.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication abilities, a thorough understanding of our organization's operations, and strong creative skills, including expertise in photo and video editing. This individual may also represent the organization at public speaking events.

This position is newly established within our organization.

The mission of the Arizona Media Association is to ensure the sustainability of Arizona's local media and uphold its vital role in community connectivity. The Association represents over 350 local media brands across radio, television, print, and digital platforms, supporting the local media community through research funding, training programs, legal defense, advocacy, shared content initiatives, and recruitment efforts. The Head of Marketing and Communications will be responsible for crafting communication strategies that align with these objectives.

Additionally, the Association oversees the daily operations of the recently launched Arizona Local News Foundation, which aims to connect communities with access to local news and information. The Foundation actively raises funds to support programs addressing the local news crisis in Arizona. The Head of Marketing and Communications will also lead communication strategies to bolster all aspects of the Foundation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Communication: Develop and execute comprehensive marketing, special events, and communication strategies that align with the goals of the Arizona Media Association and Arizona Local News Foundation.
  • Content Creation: Generate, curate, and manage content for email campaigns, social media updates, and website enhancements. Ensure all content is clear, concise, and engaging, while also producing high-quality visual and multimedia content, including photos and videos, to support our communication efforts.
  • Social Media Management: Oversee all social media accounts, including content planning, posting, and engaging with followers. Monitor social media trends and analytics to optimize performance.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to gather information and ensure consistent messaging across all platforms.
  • Brand Management: Uphold and enhance the organization's brand through all marketing and communication efforts.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Track and analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in marketing and communication roles, preferably within the media or nonprofit sector.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; strong creative skills, with experience in photo and video editing; proficiency in using social media platforms, email marketing tools, and content management systems; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Passion: A genuine commitment to the mission of supporting local news and community engagement.
  • Personal Attributes: Detail-oriented and highly organized; innovative and proactive, with a passion for storytelling and media; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
