KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Medical Imaging Specialist is responsible for conducting fluoroscopic examinations for patients across various age groups, adhering to established radiology practice standards. This role encompasses all aspects of patient imaging care, including file management, clerical tasks, physician support, and other essential functions necessary for optimal patient outcomes in the Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC). Additionally, the specialist will assist in the procurement of materials, supplies, and instruments as needed, serving as a support to the Materials Manager. Other tasks may be assigned as required by the Center.

WORK SCHEDULE

Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM

SUPERVISION: Reports to the Director of Nursing

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Under supervision, may instruct and prepare patients for imaging procedures utilizing C-Arms in an operating room environment.
  • Assess the appropriate anatomical positioning and apply necessary shielding to patients.
  • Position patients effectively to ensure accurate imaging of the required body parts.
  • Operate both stationary and portable radiologic equipment to capture x-ray images for medical evaluation.
  • Assist with fluoroscopic procedures; under guidance, capture clinical images of unique cases and maintain accurate identification.
  • Ensure the upkeep of imaging equipment and workspaces.
  • Monitor patient status throughout imaging procedures.
  • Implement radiation safety measures, including the use of protective devices to minimize exposure.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Prepare reports as necessary and perform related duties.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Proficient understanding of contemporary radiologic technology, particularly C-Arms; knowledge of human anatomy; familiarity with standardized imaging procedures; comprehensive awareness of radiologic safety protocols; competence in operating and maintaining modern imaging equipment; and skills in inventory management of supplies.

Effective communication skills essential for job performance; ability to provide emergency assistance; maintain accurate patient records; generate necessary reports; follow directives; assess situations accurately and respond appropriately; and foster collaborative relationships with colleagues.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (including licenses or certifications)

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current certification as a Radiologic Technologist in diagnostic radiology issued by the relevant state authority.
  • Experience in radiologic techniques under the guidance of a certified medical radiologist, particularly with C-Arms in an ASC setting.
  • Completion of a two-year accredited training program in radiologic technology recognized by the American Medical Association and the American College of Radiology.
