Position Overview: Environmental, Health & Safety Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Environmental Strategy Coordination:
  • Oversee the establishment and upkeep of environmental management systems and compliance across the Americas, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory standards.
  • Manage the environmental management system (including ISO14001 where applicable) throughout the Americas region.
  • Facilitate the extension of ISO 14001 implementation as necessary.
  • Coordinate all internal and external environmental audits, investigations, and related action plans.
  • Lead the response to significant environmental incidents and investigations, ensuring appropriate action and communication plans are in place.
  • Implement the environmental program for RS Americas, Inc. and provide support to other operations as needed.
  1. Advancing Sustainability Goals:
  • Direct the strategy, targets, project execution, and reporting for carbon reduction initiatives, including net zero and SBTi targets, as well as waste management and recycling efforts.
  • Collaborate with facilities and operations teams to achieve site-specific carbon and energy reduction goals in alignment with the net zero plan.
  • Manage large-scale decarbonization projects, such as transitioning to low carbon HVAC systems or solar energy installations.
  • Support supply chain teams in developing sustainable packaging and transportation strategies.
  • Advise on broader sustainability goals related to customers, suppliers, and products, aiming for a net zero value chain by 2050.
  1. Sustainability Performance & Reporting:
  • Oversee the collection and reporting of environmental data for all sites in the Americas.
  • Coordinate quarterly and annual environmental reporting and assurance processes.
  • Establish robust environmental data management systems in new acquisitions and implement proactive sustainability programs aligned with the Group's 2030 ESG objectives.
  • Engage with corporate stakeholders to promote environmental progress and future plans.
  1. Health & Safety Leadership:
  • Ensure compliance with safety legislation and that safety policies are effectively implemented across the organization.
  • Conduct regular inspections to verify adherence to safety procedures and risk assessments.
  • Facilitate management review forums to assess compliance performance and recommend necessary procedural changes.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to drive performance and engage with regional EH&S managers.
  • Develop training initiatives to enhance internal compliance awareness.
  • Mentor Environmental, Health & Safety Advisors to build their expertise and confidence.

What We Seek:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proven experience managing environmental, sustainability, and health and safety programs in complex, multi-site organizations.
  • Expertise in implementing management systems and ensuring compliance and performance reporting.
  • Strong background in coordinating environmental and safety reporting across multiple sites.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing net zero initiatives and project execution.
  • Ability to engage and influence stakeholders across various teams.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in relevant industries such as industrial, distribution, or manufacturing.
  • Formal environmental qualifications, preferably with chartered status.
