Position Summary

The selected candidate will collaborate with a team of engineers and designers at our office, focusing on modification packages. Responsibilities include executing complex engineering tasks, which encompass the preparation of specifications, data sheets, calculations, and modifications to existing plant drawings. The role also involves supporting proposals, preparing purchase requisitions, reviewing vendor drawings, and developing cost estimates, budgets, schedules, and scope of work documents.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with coursework in power systems.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the design of electrical systems for power plants or heavy industrial facilities.
  • At least 2 years of experience in electrical design for nuclear facilities in North America, including new plants or modifications of existing operations.
  • Experience in preparing specifications and sizing calculations for electrical distribution equipment.
  • Proficiency in developing schematic and single-line diagrams for medium and low voltage switchgear and motor control centers.
  • Knowledge of protection and control schemes for medium and low voltage AC auxiliary systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial DC and UPS systems.
  • Experience in reviewing engineering drawings, including single-line, schematic, wiring diagrams, and physical location drawings.
  • At least 2 years of experience in auxiliary system studies, including short circuit, load flow, coordination, and arc flash studies using ETAP or equivalent software.
  • Understanding of the National Electrical Code and IEEE Standards related to plant electrical distribution systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with project team members, clients, contractors, and vendors.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capability to prepare comprehensive technical reports, spreadsheets, and presentations using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen and eligible for unescorted access to a U.S. nuclear power facility.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering (PE) License in any U.S. state, with the ability to obtain licensure in other states through comity.
  • Two years of experience in preparing modification packages for operating nuclear generating stations in the U.S. using the Standard Nuclear Design Process.
  • Field experience and walk-downs of operational power plants.
  • Experience in the application and setting of protective relays.
  • Supervisory experience leading other electrical engineers and designers, including preparation of estimates, budgets, and schedules.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems.
