Role Summary:
We are currently seeking a Wholesale Underwriter to join our dynamic Operations team. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three to five years of experience in underwriting home equity or mortgage loans, specifically in a direct-to-consumer or third-party origination setting.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of mortgage processes and possess expertise in loan origination technology, thriving in a fast-paced and evolving environment. We seek individuals who are driven, passionate, and excel in a multifaceted operational role.


Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough evaluations of loan applications to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and company policies
- Analyze borrower credit, income, assets, and collateral to assess eligibility
- Communicate loan decisions effectively to relevant parties
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all organizational guidelines
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements as directed by management
- Provide loan solutions and counteroffers when necessary
- Address loan escalations promptly
- Manage loan sale and delivery issues appropriately
- Identify potential red flags and misrepresentation
- Collaborate closely with sales and operational partners throughout the loan lifecycle
- Potentially train and mentor underwriting staff
- Assist management with special projects or initiatives as required

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required
- 3-5 years of experience in underwriting home equity or mortgage loans in a direct-to-consumer or third-party origination environment
- Proficiency in evaluating complex income streams, including personal and business tax returns
- Advanced knowledge of Conventional guidelines
- Solid understanding of underwriting fundamentals and industry practices
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Technical Proficiency:
- Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams
