Clinic Nurse Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinic Nurse to join our team at Prairie Family Practice in Decatur, IL. As a Clinic Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare professionals.

About the Role

This full-time position offers a competitive salary of $25.45 per hour, based on experience, with opportunities for growth and advancement within our organization.

The Clinic Nurse is responsible for assisting providers with patient exams, treatments, and procedures, as well as performing clinical measurements and data collection. You will also be responsible for documenting patient data and provider-directed information clearly and accurately in patient records.

  • Administer medication as directed by the provider;
  • Assist providers with patient exams/treatments/procedures;
  • Clean/stock exam rooms/work spaces on an ongoing basis;
  • Perform tasks related to stocking and cleaning in adherence to regulatory and system infection control policies/protocols;
  • Clean and sterilize equipment and instruments based on needs of the practice;
  • Collect patient data, including heights, weights, vital signs, and other measurements;
  • Document appropriate data/information;
  • Keep providers aware of patient requests, needs, and observations made that could be of value to the provider's assessment, care, and follow-up;
  • Follow Universal Precautions at all times during contact with patients, equipment, instruments, and/or specimens;
  • Perform laboratory duties, which may include phlebotomy, specimen collection, and performance of routine basic waived testing;
  • Handle and coordinate reference lab testing specimens/reports and corresponding reports/documentation;
  • Perform general clerical duties, as required, such as receiving and mailing patient test results, preparing charge tickets, transcribing data to physical or referral forms, filing, and monitoring or ordering supplies;
  • Relay information between provider(s) and client(s), which may include communications with patients, families, pharmacies, nursing homes, consultancy office staff, insurers, and facilities;
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful as a Clinic Nurse at Sarah Bush Lincoln, you must have:

  • A high school diploma (required);
  • BLS or CPR certification within 90 days of hire;
  • A graduate of an accredited LPN program;
  • An active CMA or LPN license from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
