Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Waterbury Hospital. As a Medical Laboratory Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic services to patients.

About the Role

This is a per diem position that requires rotating shifts. The ideal candidate will have experience in blood bank procedures and automated functions related to job responsibility. A Medical Technologist Certification (ASCP) or equivalent is required, along with a Bachelor of Science Degree and basic computer skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis on patient specimens using various analytical techniques.
  • Relay critical values and abnormal results to appropriate individuals according to established policies.
  • Interact with internal and external customers with tact and confidentiality.
  • Adapt to a dynamic environment and meet physical requirements such as lifting, standing, and walking.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Medical Technologist Certification (ASCP) or NCA or HEW equivalent.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree.
  • 1-3 years generalist experience including blood bank experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to access internet and other programs applicable to Waterbury Hospital procedures.
