Position Overview

The Travel Medical Lab Technician role involves working in various healthcare settings, providing essential laboratory services.

Job Responsibilities
  • Histo Tech: Proficient in histology techniques and procedures.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years in a similar role is required; first-time applicants will not be considered.
  • Contract Details: No guaranteed time off in the contract; discussions may occur during the interview.
  • Hours: Guaranteed hours apply after the first call-off per pay period.
  • Facility Details: Work in a Level II Trauma center with a total of 615 staffed beds.
  • Scrub Color: Any color is acceptable.
  • Charting System: Experience with Cerner is preferred.
  • Parking: Costs are included in the facility's daily rate.
Job Requirements
  • Technical Skills: Experience with formalin, frozen section grossing, and fixation is essential.
  • Microtome Experience: Proficiency in both automated and manual microtome operations, including cutting tissue sections using microtome and cryostat.
  • Staining Techniques: Familiarity with Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E), Periodic Acid-Schiff (PAS), and IHC staining.
  • Preferred Skills: Experience in microtomy of frozen sections and embedding.
  • Special Equipment: Knowledge of Roche Ventana Ultra and Benchmark Special Stainer is advantageous.
  • Lab Experience: Required experience in both outpatient and inpatient laboratory settings.
  • EMR System: Familiarity with Cerner EMR is preferred.
Schedule Information
  • Shift: 5x8s, from 22:30 to 07:00.
  • Weekend Work: Requirements will be discussed during the interview.
  • On-call Duties: No on-call requirements.
  • Facility Transfers: No floating to sister facilities is required.
  • Block Schedule: Open to discussion during the interview.
  • Local Candidates: Local applicants are welcome.
