Hartford, Connecticut, United States CVS Health Full time
Join CVS Health:

At CVS Health, we are united by a singular, profound mission: Enhancing health care experiences through compassion. Our commitment is to provide innovative, human-centered health solutions in a world that is constantly evolving.

Our guiding principles, known as Heart At Work BehaviorsTM, empower every team member to play a pivotal role in transforming our organizational culture and driving innovation to make health care more accessible and affordable.

Position Overview:

As a Lead Software Engineering Specialist, you will take on a leadership role, directing technical initiatives while supporting both small and large-scale complex projects that demand advanced skills across various technical environments and disciplines. Your contributions will have a broad impact across the organization.

You will be responsible for delivering and maintaining business systems that align with organizational needs, service level agreements (SLAs), and opportunities by effectively integrating information, business processes, and technology in a timely and cost-efficient manner.

The Lead Software Engineering Specialist will engage in hands-on development, oversee production deployments, and collaborate with both onshore and offshore team members. While you will receive some guidance regarding work prioritization, you are expected to work autonomously and provide direction to your assigned team.

This role requires balancing an agile/scrum team environment with a significant number of offshore team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently design and/or code, and lead others in developing cost-effective application and program solutions.
  • Act as the chief technical contributor in translating business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Lead or contribute technically to the design of new applications or enhancements, including the integration of third-party solutions.
  • Provide ongoing system maintenance, research, problem resolution, and on-call support for existing systems.
  • Oversee or conduct unit testing and assist with integration and system testing to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Support the implementation of systems into production with limited direction, including the integration of purchased solutions.
  • Manage Code Asset Management for applications, promoting the reuse of assets across the organization.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for projects and/or service requests affecting specific applications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in application program development, with at least 5 years in IIB/ACE development.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Java development.
  • Proficiency in ESQL ESLT.
  • Experience working with business and functional requirements relevant to applications supporting specific domains and their interfaces.
  • Proven experience in leading teams to develop API services with both onshore and offshore resources.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with integration concepts and practices.
  • Knowledge of Java Spring Boot and microservices.
  • Understanding of service/API interface structures.
  • Experience with integration technologies such as Business Process Management (BPM), Extreme Scale (WXS), Mqueue, SPLUNK, Cloud Containerization, and DevOps.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages, development tools, and/or databases.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Compensation and Benefits:

The typical pay range for this role is: $97,000 - $201,900.00

This range represents the base hourly rate or annual salary for all positions within this job grade. Actual salary offers will depend on various factors including experience, education, and geography.

This position is eligible for a bonus, commission, or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range.

CVS Health offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) retirement savings plan, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan for eligible employees.

We also provide fully-paid term life insurance, short-term and long-term disability benefits, and numerous well-being programs, education assistance, and discounts.

Employees enjoy Paid Time Off (PTO), vacation pay, and paid holidays throughout the year, in accordance with relevant state laws and company policies.
