PathGroup is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist I to perform daily phlebotomy activities accurately and on time. The ideal candidate will interact with clients, patients, and colleagues in a professional and courteous manner, ensuring a positive experience for all.
Key Responsibilities- Collect specimens according to established procedures, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Communicate effectively with clients and patients, explaining the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection methods.
- Dispose of biohazard materials and contaminated sharps in accordance with applicable laws and policies.
- Enter patient and specimen information into the computer system, maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
- Research test and client information using the lab computer system.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, labeling and processing specimens as required.
- Package specimens for transport, storing samples according to required temperature and protocols.
- Maintain daily records and logs, assisting with compilation of monthly statistics and data.
- Perform basic clerical duties, including filing, faxing, and preparing mail.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Phlebotomist Certification preferred (required in Louisiana).
- Prior job-related experience preferred.
