Mathematics Tutor

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mathematics Tutor to join our team at Johnston Community College. As a Mathematics Tutor, you will provide academic support and encouragement to students beyond the classroom experience through individual and/or group tutoring.

• Meet with students individually or in group sessions to assess their strengths and weaknesses and provide guidance on academic subjects.
• Develop and implement effective tutoring strategies to help students achieve their academic goals.
• Communicate regularly with faculty and staff to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed.
• Stay up-to-date with curriculum changes and developments in mathematics education to provide the best possible support to students.
• Collaborate with other tutors and academic support staff to ensure a cohesive and effective support system for students.

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or a related field.
• Experience working in a post-secondary or community college setting, or experience as a tutor.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Master's degree in Mathematics or a related field.
• Experience working with students who require additional support.
• Knowledge of curriculum and instructional methods in mathematics education.

The Mathematics Tutor will work in a quiet and comfortable environment, with access to technology and resources to support student learning.

The Mathematics Tutor will be expected to maintain confidentiality and adhere to all college policies and procedures.
