Orthotist Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Orthotist to join our team at Geisinger. As an Orthotist, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional care to patients requiring custom-made orthoses.

This full-time position offers a competitive salary of $70,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience. The successful candidate will work in a clinical environment, assessing patient conditions and determining the needed treatment. They will evaluate, measure, cast, design, and fit custom-made lower extremity, upper extremity, and spinal orthoses, as well as measure, fit, and adjust prefabricated orthoses.

• Evaluate patient conditions and determine the needed treatment
• Elicit patient interpretation of their current situation and expected outcome for the orthosis
• Communicate with prescribing physicians to clarify expectations and detail design options
• Formulate comprehensive treatment plans based on input from physicians, patients, therapists, and rehabilitation team members
• Select appropriate prefabricated orthoses or design custom orthoses to provide prescribed outcomes
• Measure and cast patients
• Correct and modify positive molds and provide complete design specifications for orthoses to central fabrication labs
• Fit patients with completed orthoses and adjust as necessary to achieve optimal function
• Provide instruction to patients and families on proper use and care of orthoses
• Document all patient contacts according to established departmental and hospital procedures
• Troubleshoot, repair, and adjust orthoses as required

• Bachelor's Degree (Required)
• Certified Orthotist - American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics, Inc. (ABCOP) (Required)
• Less than 25% travel may be required
