Job Title: Teacher - Reg Ed./ESS

East Baton Rouge Parish School System is seeking a qualified Teacher - Reg Ed./ESS to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Teacher - Reg Ed./ESS will be responsible for providing support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas. The successful candidate will develop lesson plans and deliver group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines, collaborate with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues, and respond to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders to establish and maintain leadership and positive relationships while focusing on high expectations and continuous improvement for student learning.
  • Design instruction to ensure all students are engaged and participating in individual and classroom learning objectives.
  • Evaluate individual student and class performance to gauge and subsequently adjust instruction to improve individual and class performance.
  • Implement current best practice instruction and resources to improve and enhance student learning in alignment with state and district standards.
  • Maintain documentation and required reports to comply with site, district, policy, administrative, state and/or federal statutes and regulations.
  • Manage classroom structure and procedures to establish a positive, safe and orderly optimal learning environment to support students in achieving classroom and individual goals.
  • Model positive behaviors to promote appropriate social and interpersonal behavior in alignment with district goals.
  • Oversee assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers and/or student workers to ensure the operation of an effective and efficient classroom structure that supports the teacher and students in achieving classroom and individual goals.
  • Participate in a variety of meetings to convey and/or gather information to perform functions.
  • Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns and/or direct to appropriate personnel for resolution.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required. Current Louisiana teacher certification.
  • Professional Conduct: Maintain a high standard of professional conduct. Breach of said professional conduct includes, but is not limited to, neglect of duty, dishonesty, engagement in acts that are contrary to East Baton Rouge Parish School System policy, unlawful activities, or any other conduct which is seriously prejudicial to the school system.
  • Technological Abilities: Proficient in general use of a computer, the use of Email as a form of communication, and other job-specific equipment, software, and/or applications.
