Job Summary

We're seeking a highly skilled Crime Data Analyst to play a critical role in our law enforcement efforts. As a Crime Data Analyst, you will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting crime data to help us identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement. Your expertise will help us develop effective strategies to prevent and reduce crime, ensuring the safety and well-being of our community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze crime data from various sources, including police incident reports, calls for service, and other enforcement data
  • Develop and maintain databases, spreadsheets, and other tools to store and retrieve crime data
  • Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and correlations, and present findings to law enforcement officials and other stakeholders
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies to develop and implement evidence-based strategies to prevent and reduce crime
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of crime data, including incident reports, arrest records, and other relevant information
  • Perform complex data analysis to identify crime hotspots, trends, and patterns, and provide recommendations for resource allocation and crime prevention strategies
  • Develop and maintain relationships with law enforcement agencies, community groups, and other stakeholders to share information and best practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as criminal justice, social sciences, computer science, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in crime analysis, research, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret complex data
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to non-technical stakeholders
  • Proficiency in database management, statistical analysis, and data visualization tools, such as SQL, R, Python, or Tableau
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and customer service

Salary

The estimated salary for this position is $65,852.80 per year, based on the City's salary range for a Crime Data Analyst.

Location

This position is located in Bloomington, IL, and requires occasional travel to meet with law enforcement agencies and community stakeholders.
