Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Survey Party Chief to join our team at Knowhirematch. As a key member of our survey crew, you will be responsible for leading field survey teams and conducting complex surveys for various projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead field survey crews in making plane and geodetic surveys for construction, topographic, right-of-way, and control survey projects.
  • Conduct all survey and layout activities as directed by project managers.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control tasks for 3D modeling and grading.
  • Participate in pre-survey planning meetings with project teams.
  • Assign and monitor work, providing input for the evaluation of field survey crew members.
  • Instruct and train survey crew members in survey and mapping methods, equipment use, and field safety procedures.
  • Gather field survey data using conventional and GPS methods, including setting up, adjusting, and operating surveying equipment.
  • Prepare field notes and drawings.
  • Perform complex surveying calculations using engineering calculators and laptop computers.
  • Prepare finished grade sheets, topographic maps, records of survey, corner records, and other survey reports.
  • Research existing record information and maintain field data records, survey project files, and indexing systems.
Requirements
  • Developing understanding of field instrumentation, GPS, and robotic total stations.
  • Good cooperative skills in working efficiently with a team.
  • Good math skills, including algebra and trigonometry.
  • Technical school diploma/certificate in a related program a plus.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
