Parkways Maintenance Section Leader

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Parkways Maintenance Section Leader to join our team at the City of New Orleans, LA. As a key member of our Parks and Parkways department, you will be responsible for directing a major phase of the parkways maintenance program and related work as required.
Key Responsibilities- Direct and oversee the maintenance of parkways, including tree maintenance, turf care, and plant propagation.
- Supervise a team of maintenance staff and provide guidance and support to ensure the successful completion of tasks and projects.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules and plans to ensure the parkways are well-maintained and meet the needs of the community.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Monitor and control budgets and resources to ensure efficient use of city funds.
- Permanent civil service status as a Senior Parkways Maintenance Supervisor (formally titled Parkways Maintenance Supervisor III) or Parkways Maintenance Supervisor (formally titled Parkways Maintenance Supervisor II).
- One (1) year of experience in the classification of Senior Parkways Maintenance Supervisor (formally titled Parkways Maintenance Supervisor III) or two (2) years of experience in the classification of Parkways Maintenance Supervisor (formally titled Parkways Maintenance Supervisor II).
- Five (5) years of experience in tree maintenance, the maintenance of large turf areas using a variety of grass mowing equipment, or in the propagation and maintenance of a large variety of plant life, with one (1) year of supervisory experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Forestry Park Management, Agronomy, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Botany, Plant Science, Floriculture, or closely related field from an accredited college or university.
- Associate's Degree in Forestry Park Management, Agronomy, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Botany, Plant Science, Floriculture, or closely related field from an accredited college or university.
- Current Louisiana Arborist license.
- Experience working in a municipal or government setting.
- Knowledge of parkways maintenance practices and procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
