Job Overview:

As a Retail Store Operations Manager at West Marine, you will play a pivotal role in achieving sales goals and ensuring exceptional customer service. This position requires a dynamic leader who can prioritize tasks, delegate responsibilities, and drive results.

About the Role:

  • Assist store associates in executing strategies to meet or exceed annual sales targets.
  • Greet customers promptly and engage them in conversation to understand their boating needs, providing product knowledge and suggestive selling opportunities.
  • Acknowledge and address customer concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Participate actively in programs and procedures that drive sales growth.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked store environment.
  • Recruit, coach, train, and discipline store associates as needed.
  • Develop and implement effective scheduling strategies to ensure optimal floor coverage and achieve payroll budget objectives.
  • Collaborate with associates to achieve high scores in 'Matinee Review' through excellent customer service, product knowledge, and follow-through.
  • Stay up-to-date on products, sales techniques, company policies, and guidelines to provide informed coaching and training to store associates.
  • Suggest usage of West Marine promotional programs and services with each applicable sale.
  • Verify Asset Protection standards are met consistently.
  • Work towards achieving a store audit score of 80% or better.
  • Foster a positive work environment by promoting teamwork, communication, and mutual respect among associates.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills to drive business results and make data-driven decisions.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; two years of related experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and be mobile on the sales floor for extended periods.

Compensation and Benefits:

Our competitive salary range is $55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. We also offer benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid time off.
