The Pastry Cook I role at Marriott International, Inc. is a dynamic opportunity to showcase culinary expertise in preparing high-quality pastries and desserts. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional cooking skills, attention to presentation standards, and the ability to work collaboratively with kitchen staff.
About the Role:
This position involves assisting in the preparation and cooking of special meals, regulating oven temperatures, and maintaining proper food logs. The successful candidate will also communicate effectively with service staff, informing them of menu specials and out-of-stock items. Additionally, they will be responsible for ensuring the quality of prepared foods, following recipes, and adhering to presentation and food preparation checklists.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare special meals or substitute items according to recipes and quality standards.
- Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters as required.
- Maintain accurate food logs and monitor food quantity and quality.
- Communicate assistance needed during busy periods and inform Chef of excess food items for daily specials.
- Inform Food & Beverage service staff of menu specials and out-of-stock items.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of related work experience in a culinary setting.
- Technical, trade, or vocational school degree preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
