Overview of the Position: Assists the Lead Meat Cutter in the preparation and processing of various meat products, including beef, lamb, and pork. Responsible for managing inventory and ensuring adherence to production schedules. Delivers outstanding customer service while fostering a positive and collaborative team atmosphere.

Position Duties:

Prepares, weighs, and prices meat and seafood products in accordance with departmental policies and regulatory standards. Collaborates with the Lead Meat Cutter to ensure all products are processed according to company quality standards. Provides support in cutting, ordering, and inventory management as needed in the absence of the Lead Meat Cutter. Assists in ordering meat products based on projected sales and seasonal trends, maintaining optimal inventory levels. Ensures proper stocking, rotation, and presentation of products, adhering to merchandising standards and quality guidelines. Stays informed about industry trends, promotions, and events, planning accordingly for weekly advertising and seasonal activities. Works alongside the Lead Meat Cutter to evaluate and adjust production needs based on sales forecasts. Partners with management to uphold high standards of department appearance, cleanliness, and service quality. Receives and inspects merchandise for quality and accuracy, communicating any discrepancies to management. Assists customers with product selection, sharing knowledge and making recommendations based on their needs. Maintains familiarity with product offerings, including terminology, cuts, and recommended uses, while continuously learning. Ensures compliance with company organic standards within the department. Completes special customer orders thoroughly and follows up as necessary. Maintains accurate pricing and signage that align with merchandising standards. Follows established procedures for processing invoices, transfers, and credits. Manages damaged and spoiled products in accordance with company policy. Keeps back stock areas organized, clean, and properly rotated. May participate in additional activities such as inventory counts and performance evaluations. Notifies management of any issues affecting customer service, safety, or productivity. Tools and Equipment Used: This role may require the use of various tools and equipment, including balers, hand trucks, POS systems, and industrial kitchen appliances. Physical Requirements: This position involves a heavy level of physical activity, including standing and walking throughout the shift, with occasional climbing and lifting requirements. Performs other related tasks as assigned.

Candidate Qualifications:

Previous experience in customer service, food service, retail, or grocery preferred. Familiarity with retail meat and seafood departments is advantageous, though experience in butcher shops or meat fabrication is acceptable. Prior experience in meat cutting or fabrication is required. Supervisory experience is preferred.

Work Environment: Work is conducted in a grocery store setting, which may include wet and slippery surfaces, moderate noise levels, and temperature variations in coolers and freezers.
