Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Barback to join our team at Loews Hotels. As a Barback, you will provide exceptional support to our bartenders and beverage servers, ensuring that all bars are kept in proper working condition and that all supplies are readily available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stock and maintain supplies in all service areas, including glassware, mixers, and other beverages.
  • Assist bartenders and beverage servers with the service of beverages, including transportation of food trays and cleaning of public areas.
  • Participate in monthly inventory and ordering of replacement items as needed.
  • Inspect and prepare all service ware prior to use, ensuring that it is clean and sanitized.
  • May assist servers with removing soiled glasses and plates for large parties and during periods of heavy volume.
  • Clean and stock glassware, maintaining a clean and organized storage space.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and sanitary condition of the lounge and service areas.
  • Assist in the completion of post-shift clean up and side work duties.
  • Regular attendance and flexibility to work varying schedules, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of wine and spirits, as well as food.
  • Polite, friendly, and helpful demeanor when interacting with guests, management, and fellow employees.
  • Exceptional guest service skills, with the ability to stand, stoop, bend, and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds repetitively during an entire shift.
  • Certifications such as Certified Food Service Manager or TIPS are a plus.
  • Effective leadership, management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write the English language.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience as a Barback in a high-volume, upscale hotel or free-standing lounge environment.
