Job Summary

Impact Workforce Solutions is seeking a skilled Electrical Systems Tester to join our manufacturing team in Muncie, IN. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and evaluating locomotive systems to ensure they meet all specifications before shipping to customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Test and inspect electrical and mechanical systems, including complicated circuits, electrical measurements, and air brake systems.
  • Diagnose, adjust, troubleshoot, and repair defects found during testing.
  • Conduct track testing of locomotives and follow all rules pertaining to their operation.
  • Follow written instructions and QWI's consistently, accurately, and safely.
  • Calculate and record data.
  • Operate locomotives and other rolling equipment, such as tuggers and fork trucks.
  • Read precision instruments and gauges.
  • Operate overhead cranes.

Requirements

  • Technical knowledge to detect deficiencies and repair them if required.
  • Electrical/mechanical experience with the ability to troubleshoot problems using schematics and test engineering specifications.
  • Functional understanding of locomotive electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical/electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic schematics and flowcharts.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to document non-conformance.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in a high voltage environment, computer/electronics knowledge, and a working knowledge of test equipment.
  • Experience using a variety of computer software programs, including Windows and Office products.
  • Previous locomotive test, mechanical/electrical, experience.

Work Environment

  • Position can be located inside or outside, dependent on situation.
  • When inside, employees are subject to temperature extremes in non-temperature-controlled environments.
  • When outside, employees are subject to all weather elements.
  • Employees will work with oils and other lubricants.

Physical Demands

  • Strength – Position requires lifting of 50lbs.
  • Motion – Position requires standing majority of the day.
  • Vision/Hearing Requirements – Position is exposed to high levels of noise and vibration from using tools.
