Position: Senior Controls Software Engineer
HTI Cybernetics, Inc. has been at the forefront of intelligent manufacturing solutions since 1983, delivering advanced automation systems, material handling solutions, assembly tooling, and collaborative robotics.
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Senior Controls Software Engineer to join our Controls Engineering Department.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and develop software solutions to support the creation of new automotive products and improve existing ones.
- Lead a team of software engineers through the design, commissioning, and installation processes.
- Independently create, develop, and implement PLC Ladder Logic using Allen Bradley or Siemens software.
- Identify, implement, and integrate control hardware, including PLCs, digital and analog I/O, drives, motors, and safety components.
- Interpret and analyze electrical and mechanical design drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.
- Assess user requirements and develop automation systems control configurations accordingly.
- Contribute to the development of Software/Electrical interface specifications as needed.
- Innovate tools and integration strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce costs, while suggesting architectural and technological improvements.
- Provide technical solutions that balance cost-effectiveness with reliability, offering industry-specific knowledge and guidance.
- Facilitate communication among various teams and clients, ensuring problem resolution and adherence to schedules.
- Maintain clear communication throughout project execution, both written and verbal.
- Participate in defining departmental standards and practices aligned with customer expectations.
- Exercise independent judgment in applying new and existing methods to novel challenges.
- Influence peers and leadership through data-driven insights.
- Assist in diagnosing production equipment issues to identify hardware and software faults.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.
- Undertake additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned by the Controls Engineering Manager.
Flexible start times based on project needs and personal preferences, with an average work week of 50 hours.
Compensation:This position is hourly with overtime pay.
Qualifications:- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in PLC programming with Allen Bradley or Siemens software.
- Proficient in modifying existing software.
- Experience in Automotive Welding, General Assembly, or Robotic Work Cell lines is preferred; however, related experience in automotive, heavy truck, or aerospace will be considered.
- An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
- GM certification for GCCS-2 is a plus.
- Candidates with three (3) years of relevant experience in GM Controls projects may be considered in lieu of GM Certifications.
- GM Safety Lock-Out / Tag-Out training is preferred, but training is available for qualified candidates.
