Northstar Behavioral Health Network is a team of professionals dedicated to serving individuals battling substance use disorders, including Opioid Use Disorder and Stimulant Use Disorder. We also specialize in providing Intensive Residential Treatment Services.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reports directly to the Director of Nursing.
  • Works closely with the Director of Nursing to ensure compliance with established procedures and policies.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Nursing to implement changes in nursing practices.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement initiatives with the Director of Nursing.
  • Utilizes nursing knowledge and skills to provide safe and effective care to patients, as evidenced by positive patient outcomes.
  • Performs delegated and independent nursing functions using established procedures, policies, and guidelines.
  • Administers medication accurately, observing client response and documenting in the medical record.
  • Maintains and coordinates communication among clients, staff, and physicians.
  • Assists with client admissions and discharges.
  • Conducts MAR audits and ensures compliance with established procedures.
  • Assists in ensuring effective communication with patients, as reflected in the plan of care.
  • Provides punctual and thorough change of shift reports, including relevant information for assigned patients.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care.
  • Answers and refers telephone calls and other inquiries to ensure accurate and timely communication.
  • Facilitates Health Education groups as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must be licensed by the State of Minnesota as a Registered Nurse.
  • Must understand and follow Northstar Behavioral Health Network's Drug and Alcohol Policy.
  • Must pass a State of Minnesota Background Check.
  • CPR Certification or attainment within 30 days.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programs and other computer skills.
  • Must understand the implications of 245G, sections 245A.65, 626.557, and 626.5572, and Chapter 260E.
