Position Overview:
The outpatient rehabilitation medical receptionist/technician serves as the initial point of contact for patients seeking care.

Key responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to, welcoming patients upon their arrival, managing incoming phone inquiries, coordinating patient appointments, aiding in the registration process, conveying insurance benefits information, digitizing patient documents, processing payments, and generating reports as required by management.

This role also involves providing assistance in patient care and facilitating therapeutic activities as directed by therapists within a collaborative team environment, adhering to professional standards and ethical practices.

Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness and readiness of treatment areas and equipment as per departmental guidelines. Although assigned to a primary facility, the employee may be required to assist at other locations during urgent situations. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma required
Further education or specialized training preferred

Experience:
Previous experience in a healthcare environment is preferred
Familiarity with Insurance Payer regulations is advantageous
Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred
Experience in interpreting and adhering to detailed policies and workflows
Prior exposure to electronic medical records in a healthcare setting
Experience in obtaining authorizations and scheduling rehabilitation appointments is preferred
Familiarity with Meditech, Raintree software, and Microsoft Office is preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Proficient understanding of medical terminology is required

Experience in customer service
Strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks effectively
Ability to quickly establish rapport with a diverse clientele, including physicians, colleagues, and ancillary staff
Demonstrates independent thinking and sound judgment in interpreting guidelines and resolving specific issues

Additional Requirements:
This is a day shift position, Monday through Friday.


Completion of the American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 30 calendar days of hire. Exceptions for certification from alternative providers may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

BLS recertification is mandated every two years, with ACLS certification preferred.

Physical Demands:

Medium: The employee frequently stands, sits, and walks (1/3 to 2/3 of the time); occasionally uses hands and fingers (up to 1/3 of the time); and frequently communicates verbally.

The role requires the ability to exert 20 to 35 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
