The Travel Nurse RN will be stationed in a dynamic cardiac care environment, providing essential nursing services to patients in need of specialized cardiac treatment.
Certification Requirements- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH
- Mandatory Certification: ACLS
- Facility: Parkridge Medical Center
- Unit: 3West Cardiac
- Floor: Main - 3rd floor
- Essential Skills: Preferred cardiac knowledge
- Advanced Competencies: Proficiency in administering Heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Amiodarone drips
- Procedures: Management of chest tubes, wound vacs, and EKGs as needed
- Work Schedule: Equivalent of every other weekend (4 weekend shifts in a 4-week rotation)
- Floating Policy: Potential rotation to other medical/surgical areas including general MS, Ortho, PCU, and surgical oncology, based on skill mix requirements.
- Bed Capacity: 30 beds
- Patient-to-Nurse Ratio: 5-6 patients per nurse
- Staffing Composition: Includes unit clerk during the day, 2-3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) for both day and night shifts, Nursing Supervisor, and Hospitalists
- Equipment Utilized: Welch Allyn vitals monitor, Novameter glucose monitor, Philips telemetry systems, and MP2s
- Medication Management: Utilization of WOW with medication drawers and PyxisES dispensing system
- Unit Policies: Documentation protocols for telemetry application, acknowledgment of rhythm strips, and adherence to a NO PASS ZONE for alarms and call lights.
Ensure a high standard of patient experience through:
- Bedside rounding and hourly rounding with a focus on the 5Ps
- Effective communication of patient needs to PCTs at the start and throughout shifts
- Regular updates on departmental focus areas and patient care initiatives.
