Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Scheduling Supervisor to join our team at InsideHigherEd. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the surgical scheduling process, ensuring maximum patient benefit, optimizing distribution of time among surgeons, and promoting personnel productivity and suite utilization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the surgical, pre-operative, and admission processes for both Adult and Pediatric services.
  • Monitor block time utilization and redistribute block time as needed.
  • Serve as a resource for staff with related issues and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Coordinate with administration, faculty, perioperative services, and medical office coordinators to ensure seamless operations.
  • Manage the OR schedule, block utilization, and surgical scheduling staff for multiple locations.
  • Assist with recruitment, training, disciplinary actions, performance reviews, and time/attendance.
  • Develop and implement surgical protocols and standardize work practices as needed.
  • Maintain accurate information files describing block time, shared equipment, surgeons, and procedures.
  • Follow established policies and procedures for patient admission.
  • Analyze operating data to provide summary utilization statistics.
  • Coordinate operating room posting with patient admission and communicate schedule changes to nursing staff.
  • Control and monitor block time usage and capture and track information related to patient admission.
  • Provide a daily and tentative operating room schedule and generate summary reports for management.
  • Attend user conferences and training programs to stay up-to-date on scheduling alternatives and system enhancements.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Four years of progressively responsible medical office experience required.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Medical terminology required.
  • Understanding of CPT/ICD10 coding for surgical procedures required.
