Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Systems Administrator to join our dynamic team.

This position is located within the IT Department of Washington County.

This is a full-time role that comes with a comprehensive benefits package.

The annual salary for this position is $86,195.


The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of administrative, managerial, and technical tasks that involve the planning, organization, and coordination of daily operations related to the county's computer system infrastructure and data processing activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting ongoing system analysis and strategic planning.
  • Overseeing daily processes and operations to ensure the effective installation, operation, and maintenance of the county's computer system infrastructure.
  • Collaborating with the network manager on aspects such as network design, firewall configurations, VLAN assignments, IP allocations, and connectivity solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Systems Administration, Management Information Systems, or a related field.

AND

  • A minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in computer operations or IT systems administration.

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Essential Knowledge:

The candidate should possess considerable knowledge of:

  • Scripting languages and processes (e.g., PHP, Bash, JavaScript).
  • Computer languages and system design principles.
  • Networking concepts and information system management.
  • Hardware configurations and operating system fundamentals.
  • Data communication concepts and documentation standards.

Special Requirements:

  • Availability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to ensure uninterrupted computer operations.
  • Experience with Oracle systems is preferred.
