Amergis is seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team as a School Nurse. This is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and contribute to the delivery of high-quality school health services.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and work standards for the school health program.
- Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies.
- Initiate program changes as needed to ensure efficient management of program allotments.
- Prepare health reports for supervisors, the board of education, and the health department.
- Collaborate with other child-support agencies to design and provide a comprehensive school health program.
- Negotiate professional and medical services essential to the school health program.
- Provide first aid care and medically prescribed services to students and staff.
- Maintain the security of school health supplies and equipment.
- Instruct students in health education according to the state curriculum (K-12).
- Serve as a resource person on health issues and provide staff development on health-related topics for school staff and volunteers.
- Screen and conduct health appraisals for students and staff, and provide follow-up evaluations as required.
- Recommend corrective action where problems are identified, and conduct home visits when necessary.
- Correspond with parents on health needs of children and record immunizations, health findings, and other relevant health data.
- 1 year of pediatric experience.
- Ability to identify abnormal growth and development and symptoms of disease.
- Ability to coordinate and facilitate services between the school, local health agency, and other community resources.
- Ability to develop and maintain health records on students and positive working relationships.
