Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to join our team at Guthrie. In this role, you will be responsible for communicating with patients, participants, and staff to accurately schedule patients for prescribed procedures. You will also perform clerical and reception duties associated with patient registration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Creates patient encounters in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) for ED, radiology, and outpatient patients.
  • Performs all functions related to the integrity of the EHR, including obtaining general consent for treatment, creating unknown encounters, merging records, scanning, and preparing trauma packets.
  • Participates in daily auditing of registration processes.
  • Manages incoming and outgoing telephone calls, Vocera calls, and Nurse call system.
  • Collects co-pays and provides financial guidance related to paying outstanding balances, providing estimate letters for services rendered.
  • Performs the function of Health Information Management department after hours.
  • Participates in ED staff meetings and ED Shared Governance.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Customer/patient relations experience required, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • At least 1-year experience in a position requiring frequent and direct in-person customer contact.
  • Strong organizational skills, excellent verbal communication skills, frequent keyboarding, and exceptional attention to detail.
