Position Overview
The Housing Assistance Program Supervisor plays a crucial role in aiding individuals experiencing homelessness to secure permanent housing through a rapid re-housing strategy, enabling them to live independently. This position will oversee a team of Housing Support Specialists.
This is a full-time position eligible for benefits, funded by grants with potential for annual renewal.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit ongoing reports in accordance with HUD guidelines and requirements.
- Participate regularly in Continuum of Care Full Membership meetings and sub-committee gatherings.
- Possess a thorough understanding of the Coordinated Entry system and its functions.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with site contacts, meeting business partners' expectations for productivity and quality.
- Communicate effectively—speak clearly, listen attentively, write proficiently, build relationships, act with integrity, and foster trust.
- Develop employment support strategies tailored to mental health challenges and functional limitations.
- Deliver personalized housing support services through regular consultations with clients to enhance independent living skills.
- Assist clients with budgeting, self-sufficiency planning, and community integration.
- Manage a caseload of 10-20 individuals, tracking and documenting a variety of service-related data and billing through electronic case management systems.
- Utilize person-centered approaches, motivational interviewing, and an understanding of mental health to effectively engage with clients.
- Support the Program Manager in training, modeling, and coaching the housing support team on current housing trends and priorities.
- Provide assistance to the housing team in developing creative solutions for problem-solving and managing housing crises as they arise.
Qualifications
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
- 3-5 years of experience in housing support within a non-profit environment.
- Compliance with Rule 11 and MVR background checks is mandatory.
- Ability to coordinate and informally lead team members.
- Detail-oriented, results-driven, efficient, and communicative.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
- Experience in a social services organization is preferred.
- Leadership experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Able to collaborate with a diverse team.
Work Schedule
- Typical working hours are during the day, Monday through Friday.
Travel Requirements
- Must be willing to travel to various locations throughout the day within the designated region (Mileage reimbursement is available).
Work Environment
- This role involves working in diverse settings. The employee will meet with clients in various locations, including community spaces, offices, shelters, and clients' homes. Additionally, meetings may occur with employers, county representatives, and mental health professionals.
