Job Summary

MV Transportation is seeking an experienced Safety and Training Manager to lead our safety initiatives and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for implementing safety programs and procedures, overseeing training requirements, and promoting a culture of safety throughout our operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement safety programs and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Oversee training requirements for all operators, ensuring they are current with company and contract requirements
  • Reside as the expert in EPA and OSHA, CDL compliance and regulations, providing guidance and support to the team
  • Ensure all new hires meet minimum general qualifications, including background and DMV checks
  • Oversee corporate safety incentives and programs, including assignment of Safety Points
  • Work with corporate claims staff to ensure prompt and effective handling of liability and worker's compensation claims
  • Proactively manage employee injury claims to minimize lost time and light duty claims
  • Lead the division in the area of safety organization, including classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction
Requirements
  • Transit safety experience, preferably in urban public transportation
  • College degree or five (5) + years of safety management experience
  • Certifications according to local contract requirements, including CDS (Certified Director of Safety) and/or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) Designation
  • Knowledge of all applicable safety rules, regulations, including FTA, FMCSA, and DOT
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English, and communicate effectively with all departments
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to delegate tasks and provide supervision and follow-up to department staff
