Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Broadcast Engineer and IT Specialist to join our team at KQED. As a key member of our radio broadcast team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our broadcast equipment and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, repair, and maintain all broadcast radio equipment, including transmitters, antennas, satellite downlinks, automation systems, studio equipment, remote equipment, generators, telephone systems, audio routing systems, consoles, and more.
- Respond to equipment outages and technical problems in a timely and efficient manner.
- Conduct routine diagnostic testing and document maintenance activities to ensure compliance with FCC rules and regulations.
- Troubleshoot broadcast equipment issues to the board level and provide technical support to users with varying experience.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest digital audio delivery and streaming technologies to ensure our station remains at the forefront of the industry.
Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with FM and HD transmitters, as well as proficiency in IT and networking.
- Familiarity with digital audio delivery and streaming technologies, including production and newsroom asset management systems.
- Exceptional time management skills and multitasking abilities, with the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Strong communication skills, including active listening and interpersonal skills, with the ability to speak with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to provide on-call support 24/7 in case of equipment failure.
Desired Experience:
- Familiarity with production and newsroom asset management systems, such as Dalet Galaxy.
- Experience with automated master control systems and digital routing systems and consoles.
- Proficiency in remote PC access tools and industry-standard DAWs.
- Knowledge of digital audio standards and proficiency in AutoCAD and Visio.
