Job Overview

Position: Wellhead BOP Maintenance Technician

Reporting Structure: This role operates under the supervision of a senior technician or shop foreman.

Position Summary:

  • Engaged in a controlled shop environment as well as outdoor areas, focusing on the upkeep and servicing of pressure-related apparatus and associated maintenance tools.
  • Responsible for guiding and mentoring junior technicians as directed by the shop foreman.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to all HR, HSE, and Quality Management Policies set forth by Covenant Testing Technologies.
  • Participates actively in on-the-job training led by senior technicians or supervisors, along with any additional training necessary for successful job performance.
  • Assists in all aspects of equipment maintenance, preparation, testing, and presentation specific to the Wellhead – Rental PSL, including Frac Valves, Gate Valves, Blowout Preventers, and similar equipment.
  • Provides mentorship and cross-training to less experienced technicians in the identification, disassembly, reassembly, testing, and preparation of wellhead-rental pressure equipment.
  • Oversees the prioritization of tasks and procedures related to pressure testing equipment and the heavy lifting of apparatus.
  • Responsible for the upkeep and operation of support equipment necessary for preparing pressure equipment for storage or job readiness, including steam cleaners, forklifts, cranes, pressure test units, torque units, and paint booth apparatus.
  • Maintains an organized and tidy working environment.
  • Available to work flexible hours as required to complete necessary tasks.
  • May undertake additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant, hands-on experience with Wellhead equipment.
  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.

Work Environment:

  • Indoor shop setting (climate-controlled).
  • Outdoor yard environment with stable surfaces.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to kneel, squat, push/pull, and reach overhead.
  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to climb stairs or ladders as needed for equipment handling.
  • Must be able to coordinate movements of limbs while in various positions.
  • Ability to see fine details at close range.

Training Requirements:

  • Completion of PEC/SafeLand training.
  • Smith Driving Instruction.
  • Forklift and Aerial Lift certifications.
  • Fall Protection training.
  • Additional training may be assigned as necessary.
