Compensation

Start in this role with no prior experience at $15/hr. We offer a comprehensive, paid training program, monitored through a Progression Guideline. Employees who meet the 12-week objectives outlined in the guideline, while consistently demonstrating the following five attributes: Quality, Attitude, Teamwork, Production, and Attendance, will advance to $17/hr. As production targets are achieved, salary increases will follow, providing ample opportunity for earnings growth within the role, with a strong emphasis on internal promotions.

Team Leaders and Production Manager - Wet Room

Position Overview

This role involves operating a round knife, commonly referred to as a fleshing wheel, to shave and refine animal skins post-pickling and prior to tanning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate the fleshing wheel effectively
  • Detail and flesh animal skins after they have been pickled
  • Familiarize oneself with the location and interpretation of MSDS sheets
  • Adhere to the hazard communication program and comprehend chemical information sheets
  • Utilize a scalpel to remove toe bones and turn faces
  • Consistently demonstrate the five key attributes: Quality, Attitude, Teamwork, Production, and Attendance
  • Wear cut-resistant gloves and safety glasses in production areas at all times
  • Meet the expectations set forth in the 2-Year Progression Guideline
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned by supervisors or managers

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience
  • Must be at least 18 years old to work in the tanning industry
Preferred Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma
  • Experience in shaving
Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to bend, stand, and lift. Candidates must be capable of standing for extended periods and performing repetitive motions. Lifting requirements are classified as Heavy Work, with frequent exertion of force and occasional lifting needs.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time hourly position. Standard weekly hours consist of four 10-hour days, either Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday from 5:00 am to 3:30 pm. Shifts may vary at management's discretion. Voluntary overtime may be available, and mandatory overtime may be required occasionally.

Salary Range

$15-$17/hr
