Steam Systems Technician

Additionally, we offer a generous paid time off (PTO) policy and a 401k plan with company matching. This position operates on a full-time basis with a 12-hour rotating schedule, encompassing both day and night shifts, typically working 2-3 days consecutively followed by 2-3 days off. A shift differential is available for evening shifts, with pay ranging from $30 to $34+ per hour based on experience and qualifications.
As a Steam Systems Technician, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safe operation, upkeep, and ongoing enhancement of our facility's utility systems, which include high-pressure steam boilers, ammonia refrigeration units, compressed air systems, process water management, cooling towers, fire safety systems, and various safety apparatus. You will also support the Maintenance team as required. This role presents a unique opportunity to be part of a newly established manufacturing site, utilizing cutting-edge engineering practices and implementing innovative initiatives that align with our commitment to a Plant-Strong Planet.
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster a Safety-First culture that encourages empowerment and continuous improvement.
- Manage the daily operations, maintenance, and enhancement of our plant utilities, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Diagnose issues and take immediate corrective measures to prevent future occurrences.
- Document and communicate issues along with corrective actions taken for future reference.
- Develop, assess, and update preventative maintenance schedules and protocols as necessary.
- Coordinate repairs of facility systems and equipment, maintaining accurate documentation of all relevant information.
- Interpret and apply IOM manuals, equipment schematics, and technical drawings.
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, and EHS teams to enhance the safety and reliability of plant utilities.
- Adhere to all food safety policies and procedures within the plant.
- Be prepared to respond to building emergencies and after-hours repair calls.
Required Qualifications:
- Possession of a Second-Class Engineer's License, Grade A or B (minimum).
- A robust background in electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
- Basic knowledge of commercial plumbing, HVAC, and fire protection systems.
- Ability to manage multiple complex tasks and priorities effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- First-Class Engineer's License, Grade B (preferred).
- Experience in a continuous food production environment.
- Familiarity with industrial machinery repair, including preventative and predictive maintenance practices.
- Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems.
