Job Title: Medical Laboratory Services Technician

Location: Pelham Place

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Services Technician to join our team at Brio Primary Care. As a Medical Laboratory Services Technician, you will be responsible for performing moderate-complexity laboratory testing in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform analyses using appropriate procedures with precision and accuracy for specimen handling, processing, and testing analytes.
  2. Operate instruments and equipment accurately, using established protocol and QC. Evaluate the results obtained from QC samples to assure validity before reporting patient results.
  3. Track inventory, restock an item in use, and assure its stability once opened as required by state licenses, general practices, and procedures.
  4. Maintain work area in a clean, orderly manner.
  5. Document consistently receipt and opening of a supply. Monitor expiration dates of all supplies and reagents and follow laboratory protocol.
  6. Perform, document, and complete linearities and proficiency testing.
  7. Document all instrument maintenance and calibrations; Daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and annual etc. as stated by the manufacturer.
  8. Follow laboratory policy whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
  9. Document all corrective actions taken when test systems and/or testing procedures deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
  10. Adhere to office, COLA, OSHA and DHEC rules, regulations and policies.
  11. Enhance professional growth and development through participation in education programs, in-service meetings and workshops. Attend meetings as required.
  12. Maintain strictest confidentiality; adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.

Additional Functions:

  1. Perform other duties as assigned, including tasks related to cross-trained areas or special projects. Assist and support other areas when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma/GED.
  2. One year experience in a medical setting as an MA or lab tech; must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills required to competently perform the duties of this position.

Skills/Experience:

  1. Ability to adapt to various work assignments.
  2. Possess knowledge of approved medical abbreviations and correct spelling of the English language.
  3. Be able to instruct others.
  4. Possess good customer service skills and exceptional telephone etiquette.
  5. Previous laboratory software computer experience helpful, but not required.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking. Lifts supplies and equipment. Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching.

Working Conditions:

Frequently exposed to infectious, contagious, or blood borne diseases. May be exposed to hazardous fumes, body fluids and tissues.
