- Program Development: Design and execute Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students, taking into account their diverse learning requirements.
- Instructional Support: Modify instructional materials and methods to cater to students' diverse learning needs, ensuring they receive a high-quality education.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with parents, educators, and other specialists to foster student growth, share knowledge, and coordinate efforts.
- Evaluation and Progress Monitoring: Evaluate student performance and adjust strategies as necessary to ensure students meet their educational goals.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of student progress and educational activities, providing valuable insights for future planning.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Certification: Current South Carolina teaching certification in Special Education.
- Knowledge and Skills: Strong understanding of various disabilities and instructional techniques, excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Licensure and Certification Requirements:
- Teaching Certification: Valid South Carolina Department of Education teaching certification in Special Education.
- Praxis Exams: Successful completion of required Praxis exams.
- Teacher Preparation: Completion of an accredited teacher preparation program.
- Continuing Education: Ongoing professional development and continuing education as mandated by the state.
