Job Summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Advisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing participants for high school graduation and post-secondary education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate tutorial services and academic advising to enhance motivation and improve graduation rates.
  • Develop and implement curriculum for college and career planning, financial literacy, and personal development.
  • Supervise and support tutors, instructors, and advisors to ensure high-quality services.
  • Collaborate with community resources to provide additional support to participants.
  • Enter data and maintain accurate records of participant progress and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work, counseling, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in an educational setting, preferably with disadvantaged and at-risk students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in education, social work, or counseling.
  • Experience in programming that improves secondary school retention and graduation rates.
  • Knowledge of TRIO and Upward Bound programs.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
