About this Role

As a Surgical Technologist at Christus Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical services. Your expertise and attention to detail will contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Operative Preparation: Understand the surgical plan, including the services provided by the surgeon and the patient's restoration to health and return to the community.
  • Operative Support: Function efficiently and professionally in all aspects of surgical care, including routine and special procedures. Apply the principles of asepsis in a knowledgeable manner, differentiating sterilization methods required for specific instruments and equipment.
  • Equipment and Supply Management: Prepare and know the specific uses of all equipment and supplies used for surgical procedures.
  • Surgeon Support: Anticipate the needs of the surgeon to minimize the patient's exposure to surgical and anesthetic states.
  • Emergency Response: Identify emergency situations and use sound judgment in instituting established procedures to respond to emergencies in a calm, efficient manner.
  • Post-Operative Care: Complete assigned duties during shift, as evidenced by lack of unjustified overtime. Report off to the appropriate licensed nurse at end of shift.
  • Professional Development: Maintain personal health, adhere to sick policy guidelines, and demonstrate neatness, cleanliness, and appropriate grooming.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Certifications: C-Cert Surgical Tech, C-BLS
