About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Professional Nurse to join our team as a Mental Health Nurse Specialist. This is a full-time position, working 36 hours per week.

Job Summary

This dynamic and challenging role involves working alongside therapists, prescribers, and service coordinators to provide treatment to an underserved population in our community with mental health needs. Each day will be unique, presenting opportunities to engage with a variety of settings and patient needs across our Clinic and Crisis Residential Unit.

Responsibilities

  • Engagement and Collaboration:
    • Serves as a full partner on the care team.
    • Responds willingly to assist other team members.
    • Contributes to initiatives that enhance patient care and the practice environment.
  • Clinical Competence:
    • Applies the nursing process within the framework of Relationship-Based Care.
    • Formulates daily goals and holistic care plans for patients.
    • Demonstrates critical thinking in identifying clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues.
    • Communicates effectively with other care providers and advocates for changes in patient care.
  • Patient-Centered Care:
    • Creates compassionate patient experiences by building healing relationships.
    • Provides detailed teaching to patients and families.
    • Supports the development of students and colleagues.
  • Quality Improvement and Safety:
    • Actively participates in unit-specific quality improvement efforts.
    • Identifies opportunities for improvement.
    • Utilizes evidence-based practice to enhance clinical care.
    • Models safe work practices and communicates safety hazards.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse.
  • A minimum of six months experience in a healthcare setting.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.
  • The ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families.
  • Good clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities, and specialized equipment.
  • CPR certification based on AHA standards.
