Cytotechnologist Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Cytotechnologist to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Cytotechnologist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases, including cancer.
Key Responsibilities:- Evaluate patient samples to determine the presence or absence of malignant and pre-malignant changes, infectious and inflammatory processes.
- Identify and provide accurate diagnoses within department guidelines.
- Participate in cytology proficiency testing and continuing education to maintain current knowledge and skills.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure accurate and timely reporting of results.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of laboratory procedures and policies.
- Cytotechnologist (CT) certification issued by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or Specialist in Cytotechnology (SCT) certification issued by the ASCP, or Cytotechnologist (CT) certification issued by the ASCP Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) within 1 year.
- Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Cytotechnology, or a related field.
- Minimum one year of training in a school of cytotechnology approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
The Cytotechnologist will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, handling human blood, body fluids, and tissue. The position requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, as well as lift up to 50 pounds. The Cytotechnologist must also be able to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and clients.
