Refractory Ladle Operator

Job Overview

At Big River Steel, we're committed to fostering a culture of excellence and innovation. As a Refractory Ladle Bricker, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our Ladle Bricking Stand.

Responsibilities

* Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and quality requirements, as well as ResponsibleSteel standards
* Safely and efficiently operate a remote overhead crane and forklift
* Maintain good housekeeping practices on the stand and surrounding areas
* Collaborate with other areas in Refractory and the Shop to drive profitability and continuous improvement
* Assist maintenance with repairs in the ladle bricking area

Requirements

* Quality-oriented with a focus on detail and safety
* Mechanically inclined and self-motivated
* Strong verbal communication skills and ability to work independently
* High School diploma or equivalent; college degree a plus
* Minimum 1 year experience in a heavy manufacturing environment; previous related experience preferred

Working Conditions

* Work in a steel mill refractory area with extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and dusty conditions
* Physically demanding work requiring routine lifting and moving of heavy objects
* Typical shifts are 4 on 4 off 12 hours, rotating from days to nights, with some weekends, holidays, and overtime
