The Senior Mechanical Project Engineer plays a critical role in guiding the technical design of projects, serving as a subject matter expert, mentor, and resource to the technical team. This position delegates, leads, and directs the work of project engineers and designers, ensuring quality throughout the design process.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the technical project process and scope of work within your discipline, reviewing schedule and budgeted hours to identify inconsistencies with the project manager.
  • Delegate tasks to project engineers and designers within your discipline as appropriate, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Foster strong client relations by understanding and articulating project and design requirements, progress, and troubleshooting to clients and technical staff.
  • Coordinate well with all disciplines to integrate work and client requests into the design, promoting a seamless and efficient workflow.
  • Act as a supervisor and resource to the technical design team, supporting staff education and development while actively participating in professional growth opportunities.

Qualifications and Capabilities

  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of engineering practices and principles in your discipline, with basic knowledge of other disciplines.
  • Develop solutions for multifaceted systems and interactions with varied disparate components, demonstrating analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effectively communicate scope, schedule, and budget to clients, co-workers, and technical teams, utilizing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
  • Analyze complex problems independently, train others, and maintain attention to detail while being flexible and collaborative.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is $108,000 - $162,000 per year, based on location and experience. As a regular full-time employee, you will have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage, and paid family leave.

This position requires a minimum of 7 years related industry experience, an accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience, and registration as a professional engineer (PE) or other relevant certification. Datacenter experience is also required.

Location and Work Environment

This position is primarily located in Phoenix, Arizona, with occasional opportunities in Chicago, Illinois, and Sacramento, California. As a member of the Stantec team, you will contribute to creating innovative designs that make a positive impact on the world.
