Position Overview

We are excited to present a full-time opportunity for an Emergency Department Registered Nurse at Geisinger Health System. This role comes with a substantial hiring incentive of up to $23,500 for qualified candidates. The starting salary is set at a minimum of $39.75 per hour, with additional compensation for experienced professionals. Evening, night, and weekend shifts also offer shift differentials of up to $7, along with relocation assistance for eligible applicants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive patient care, including administering treatments, medications, and conducting diagnostic assessments in accordance with established protocols.
  • Attend to the physical, emotional, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and their families.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement individualized care plans, which include patient and family education as well as discharge planning.
  • Assess the effectiveness of nursing interventions and adjust care plans based on patient feedback and outcomes.
  • Engage in collaborative efforts with physicians, support staff, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Facilitate teamwork by assigning tasks to team members based on their skills and competencies.
  • Contribute to unit-based decision-making processes that focus on evidence-based practices and quality improvement initiatives.

Position Details

The scheduled hours for this position are from 7 PM to 7:30 AM, including every other weekend and holiday. The emergency department consists of 38 beds with specialized areas, including trauma and triage rooms, as well as a secured psychiatric unit equipped with a seclusion room and overflow spaces. As a Level 2 trauma center, we cater to a significant behavioral health population and emphasize a collaborative team approach, ensuring continuous support from various healthcare professionals, including pharmacists, around the clock.

Qualifications

Applicants must have graduated from a Specialty Training Program in Nursing and possess a valid Registered Nurse license in Pennsylvania, along with Basic Life Support Certification.
